DEMOGRAPHIC HISTORY OF SOUTHERN AFRICA
Southern Africa is one of the most culturally and genetically diverse places on the planet - from the Indigenous San and Khoe peoples, to more recent movements of people from around Africa, Asia, and Europe into the region. The goal of this project is to reconstruct the genetic history of peoples from this region through time. We are currently working on projects to understand the genomic impacts of colonialism in contemporary populations in Southern Africa and to reconstruct the pre-colonial genetic diversity of San and Khoe peoples in the region.
